Almost none of the testers actually beat the game early on. But the publishers felt it needs to be easier or people won't buy the game. It robs you of that feeling and can quickly turn this game into a grind.Īlso at beta release Classic difficulty was the easiest difficulty. It's actually why so many people recommend not to save scum. That feeling of overcoming the mammoth uneven challenge. Commander, the XCOM initiative stands ready. They thought wed go down without a fight. It contains every piece of content released for the game, including the Enemy Within expansion. That is a big part of what made XCOM so great. XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack is now available, 80 off until June 18, 10 PM UTC, DRM-free on GOG.com. Doing to them what they use to do to you. The cycle repeats until finally you are stomping all over alien faces. Then something new comes along (Muton, Sectapods) and knock you right back down a peg. Strong enough to see progress but not out of the woods yet. Then you research some technology and win some battles. The originals had exactly the same design.Īt the start you feel vulnerable, scare and fragile. X-com 2 has it even more obvious as a design choice. It's built into as many systems as possible.

It was stated repeatedly in the development that it is 2. So, what’s your opinion? What makes the most sense for you, 1 or 2?

As it would be if something like that happened irl. So there’s a moment when we are pretty much at the same level of technology (or even better) than the aliens. As the XCOM commander, you will defend against a terrifying global alien invasion by managing resources, advancing technolo. I mean, damn, the fact that the game is getting is easy is probably because we (humans) are actually getting better than the aliens, and that’s for a reason, since we’ve been managing to keep earth safe from the invasions and little by little being able to steal their technology for our own use. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will place you in control of a secret paramilitary organization called XCOM. That’s my other point of view.Ģ) This is all on purpose. I was thinking about that a time ago, how the game is so damn hard at the beginning but mid-to-late is really really easy.ġ) The devs probably didn’t expected to high tech stuff make the troops so OP and it was likely a unavoidable “mistake” to thins get that easy late game.īut now I’m thinking different. So, my point is: as wee all should agree, XCOM gets really easy when you obtain a bunch of significant upgrades, alien tech and other overpowered shīt to your troops, to the point of (at least for me) even in the hardest difficulty it isn’t a pain in the ass to thrive.
